Unity Roots CIC Music Studio, arts and film project is in partnership with Riverside and The Church Homeless Trust and sited at The Quays, Sittingbourne and is now available to hire.

Unity Roots CIC is a registered CIC (Community Interest Company) that strives to improve equality, employability, understanding, skills, peace, and opportunity for all through innovative Social Enterprise involving World Music and Arts, Heritage and Cultural initiatives.

We work for all people from all backgrounds, all abilities and all nations and especially those who may be disadvantaged, are at risk or in need.

About the project

The Music Studio and Arts project is a vital educational and inspirational service at the Quays. It also offers an outreach service and workshops and courses for outside organisations, social enterprise, community projects and studio services to the public which participants will run after training.

The project provides:

  • Professional, music, creative arts, drama and film-based workshops and courses.

  • Themed projects and courses aimed at addressing a specialist topic through the arts.

  • Specialist music projects such as World music, arts, cultural and heritage.

  • Drop-in sessions / taster sessions.

  • Artist / band development programmes.

  • Gigs, performances and events for participants to run and be involved in.

  • Sponsored activities and fundraising challenges.

  • Specialist activities and learning for people with additional needs or learning difficulties.

  • Specialist support and development for those who may be disadvantaged or vulnerable. 

  • Music and arts therapy.

  • Links with various educational, creative, charitable and business organisations to provide work experience and inspiring taster activities.

  • Community projects where participants can work in the community alongside professional facilitators.

  • Career opportunities and training for participants wishing to go into the creative, voluntary, not for profit or charitable sectors.

  • Career opportunities and training for participants wishing to know more about creative social enterprise.

  • Opportunities for participants to become involved in project teams, steering and focus groups and management teams incorporating fundraising, campaigns and debates. 

  • Facilitator training and development: training participants to become voluntary or professional tutors.  

We offer:

  • A relaxed but purposeful atmosphere will enable individuals to increase their confidence, skills and motivation. 

  • Positive encouragement to anyone in order to develop their personal, technical, social and creative abilities. 

  • A professional environment where individuals who have developed their talents will be able to pass on skills to others to help break down social barriers and create positive attitudes.

  • A full range of music activities including singing, playing instruments, computer music, recording, dance, drama, film making, stage presence, recording and developing as an artist or band.


The Studio:

The studio is being transformed into a fully functioning and professional recording studio, rehearsal and workshop room. ​
Participants are already able to produce their own recordings, learn various instruments, learn to sing and create music by programming through workshops in the studio.
Careers and jobs within the music and arts industries are also explored and training offered to support people into employment. ​


Partnership funding:

We offer our music, arts and film workshops, courses and projects out to other charitable and not for profit organisations and if you cannot afford the services we can in most cases work with you to raise funds so you can receive our services for free or at much reduced rates.   • Two-hour workshop - £185

  • One day course / workshop - £325

  • Six-week programme (3 hours per week) - £1200

  • 12-week programme – (3 hours per week) - £2200

  • Specialist topic or BESPOKE sessions / programmes / arts therapy – Cost and programme arranged as per need.
